Taekwon-Do

Our Taekwon-Do program honors the original form developed by General Choi Hong-Hi for the South Korean army in the mid-1940s. Aligned with the standards set by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) under President Choi Jung-Hwa, our curriculum emphasizes kicking techniques and earns its moniker as β€œthe art of self-defense.” The majority of our training focuses on weaponless techniques, teaching students how to effectively use various parts of the body for both offense and defense.

The Composition of Taekwon-Do (Taekwon-Do Guseong) encompasses:

  1. Fundamental exercises (Kibon Yeonseup) - establishing the foundational aspects of Taekwon-Do, including hand techniques, footwork, stances, and more.

  2. Patterns (Teul) - sequences of movements practiced individually or within a group setting.

  3. Sparring (Matseogi) - practical application of individual movements from patterns and fundamental exercises.

  4. Dallyeon - a stage dedicated to body conditioning to enhance Taekwon-Do performance.

  5. Self-defense (Hoshinsul) - the hands-on application of the art, ensuring its practical effectiveness in real-world situations.
