Our Classes

Wushu (Kung Fu)

Kung Fu or Wushu is a Chinese martial art developed in the late-1950s in order to promote traditional martial arts in China. Our school teaches both styles: Long Fist, which takes the essentials of styles in Northern China, known for it’s long ranging movements and high jumping kicks, and Southern Fist, which takes influence from the 5 major schools of Southern China, known for it’s steady footwork, solid stances, strong punches, and use of the “bridge” or forearm for attack and defense.

Taekwon-Do

Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial arts developed for the South Korean army in the mid-1940s by General Choi Hong-Hi. Nicknamed the “art of self-defense” it specializes in empty handed combat with a heavy emphasis on kicking techniques.  We belong to the International Taekwon-Do Federation under President Choi Jung-Hwa, the son of General Choi.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi or Taijiquan, is known for a being a “soft” martial art. It is one of the three major styles of internal martial arts along with Xing Yi Quan and Baguazhang. Our program starts off with the most popular style called Yang Family Taijiquan. Forms are slow, but fluid and filled with challenging movements that will improve your strength and balance. Training includes empty handed routines as well as weapons like the Tai Chi Sword (Taijijian) and the Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan.

Sparring

Our Sparring class is a mix of Taekwon-Do and Chinese Kickboxing, it is also a chance for students of both styes to practice with each other, it builds reaction skills and concepts of sparring and combat. It can be taken as a standalone class.

This class is included with the Taekwon-Do, Wushu, and Tai Chi memberships.
